26.02.03 || Concerning EMTs.
I can not stand the idea that if I were to encounter a medical emergency and could not make it to the hospital on my own, I would have to trust my life to nothing more that a lifeguard in an ice cream truck. This came to me as I was at a stoplight, visually flirting with an ambulance driver. A good portion of EMTs are barely more than kids, probably just out of high school, or at most, college. Yes, I know they are trained, but I've known a few people who have successfully passed those classed and gone on to become EMTs. You know what? The ones that I know are all stupid. You may be sitting there thinking, "Well, that just means she only knows stupid people, it's just a fluke, surely all EMTs aren't idiots." And I will agree with you. Mainly because I'd like to trust in the system and think that if I did require an ambulance, the EMTs would know their shit.

But...

The ones I know, and the ones I've seen, give the impression of trained monkeys, rolling around at high speed, working bitch-ass hours, and with little more life experience than me. What the fuck is that about?

You know what? I want the good insurance. I want the insurance that gives me the special emergency number to call. The number that connects me to the stunt driver in the armored car that transports a couple trained RNs and an ER specialist. Where do I sign up for that insurance?
